Another month flying by! We are celebrating the 100th day of school early this month with many fun and fanciful activities to announce its arrival. Our TK through 1st Graders will be performing at our Winter Choir Concert on Wednesday, February 11th at 6:00 p.m. Watch for more information and be sure to bring your video cameras to capture this once in a lifetime event.
We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of more snow, especially since our 5th grade students are scheduled to go to Heavenly Ski Resort for their ski/snowboard lessons compliments of Heavenly. Start doing a “Snow Dance”! Our 3rd graders will be enjoying their free ice skating lessons and our 4th graders will learn how to be water-safe through their swim lessons compliments of the Rec Center. We are lucky to live in a town in which the community resources support the students who live here. Thank you!!!!!!
School will be closed February 16-20 in observance of Presidents’ Holidays. As always, be safe and come back and share what you did over this break.
Our stage is being renovated (new microphones, new risers, and a new stage curtain) and will be a wonderful backdrop for our new Performing Arts Center. We have many plans and are working hard to get these pieces in place so Tahoe Valley truly is a Visual and Performing Arts School. It is amazing how much we have put in place in such a short time. I can’t wait to see it continue to develop! Our next phase will include a new screen (the one currently in place is original from the 1950’s), projection system, and stage lighting. If you would like to be a part of this amazing team, please contact the school office. Or if you have any contacts that can help us make the next phase a reality, please call and share the name.
Finally, congratulations to Justice Ensign, the winner of Jamie Anderson's Give Back With Love program. Justice wrote a fantastic essay about how he would love to snowboard with Jamie and how he would "pass it forward". Jamie and her sponsors have given Justice a complete snowboard set-up including clothes, boots and board. Sierra-at-Tahoe also gave him a season's pass, where he will get to snowboard with Jamie Anderson as soon as she gets back from the X-Games. Hopefully he will share pics and video from his new Go Pro also! Congratulations on this once in a lifetime achievement.
