Dear Families,
We have two very special events coming up this month. The first is our Second Annual Santa’s Breakfast. This PTA event is a fun-filled family event. It is even open to all grandparents and friends. Come enjoy a pancake breakfast and get your photo taken with Santa. Our students will also be performing holiday songs up on stage under the direction of Miss Little, our choral teacher. We also will have gift baskets available as a part of our fundraiser. These gift baskets are filled with many different items for lucky recipients. It will be held on Saturday, December 12th from 9:00-11:00 in the MPR here at Tahoe Valley.
We also are opening our sign-ups for our annual musical performance. We are so lucky to be able to have the students bring Disney’s Lion King to life. This brand new musical has only been available to limited schools for less than one year. Thanks to the generous support of the El Dorado Community Foundation and the Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation we are one of the lucky schools to get the licensing rights. This afterschool program is open to students in grades 1-5. The rehearsals will begin January 20-21 until our performances on April 6th and 7th. These performances are open to the community and have been a hit with the public. We will have pre-sale tickets available for our school starting in March. Watch for more information at that time. I can’t wait to see our students transform from cute students into fierce jungle animals who sing and dance away!
We are moving forward with the improvement of our Performing Arts program. We are getting ready to purchase stage lighting and are trying to purchase wireless lavalier microphones for our actors. These improvements will cost over $14,000. We are actively writing grants, holding fundraisers, and gladly taking donations of ANY denominations (even $5.00 helps). Please help us out by spreading the news of our need. All donations are 100% tax free. If you can help, we have letters of introduction available in the office to share with companies, corporations and individuals. It is up to each and every one of us to get these improvements in place for our deserving students.
Respectfully,
Christina Grubbs
