Dear Families,
Our 2016-17 school year promises to be the best! We have so many improvements around campus and upgrades. The new trees and landscaping all around the campus adds a new look and feel to the school. The grants (and district funds) that we received allowed us to add many of these improvements to our site. Most of the improvements have been completed (a bottle filling station in the MPR, block wall installed by the portables, new MPR screen, some new colored stage lighting installed, and the new balance/coordination features on the TK/K playground), and some will be completed over the course of this year (a new dishwasher for the kitchen, additional bottle filling station installed, and completing our stage lighting to name a few). Our school has such pride in our campus and it shows! We also are welcoming some new staff members to our school. You can see our complete staff on the “Staff” link on this website. We have a wonderful full “family” to help support your child in their academic and social development.
Tahoe Valley will be focusing hard to improve our daily attendance this year. By increasing our daily attendance by just 1% (to 96%), we will earn over $12,000 in incentive monies from the district. Every penny will go directly to improve our school and programs all for the benefit of your child/ren. It is an easy way that parents can show how much they value their child, their education and their future; just bring them to school daily and on time. Research has shown that students who attend school daily and on time have higher academic achievement, better social development, and lower drop-out rates which correlates to higher wages. This simple act can make a life-long difference in your child’s life. If you are unsure if you should send your child to school due to illness, we now have a full-time RN nurse on site. Bring your child to the Health Office in the morning and let her check them out for free and make the decision for you.
Please consider joining our PTA and supporting your child’s education by volunteering for at least one event this year. The PTA works hard to provide funds for field trips, classroom supplies, school improvements, and fun family events. By the simple act of giving of your time and talents for ONE event, you will make a dramatic difference in our school and programs. We need your help!!!
We also are looking for volunteers for our lunchtime recycling program. See the office to sign up. It is easy and fun!!!
Respectfully,
Christina Grubbs
