Tahoe Valley School received AVID certification!!! We have been working hard on developing our AVID program for elementary and have been recognized for our efforts. Tahoe Valley is the first experience many students have, where they learn skills which will serve them well in college. We also are dedicated to opening students up to the possibility of a college career. So they can create and start on the path to THEIR future dreams. Tahoe Valley is holding our first AVID Parent Night for our 3rd-5th grade students and their families. It will be on Tuesday, February 4th from 5:00-6:30. Come and join the FUN!!!
Our 5th grade students will be performing their grade level musical for the first time ever. This musical is made possible through grant funding from Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation and El Dorado Community Foundation. Join us on Wednesday, February 12th at 2:00 in the Thunderbird Theater. You will be guaranteed a good laugh.
We started our Drop Everything and Write (DEW) program. Every Wednesday 100% of our students participate in this writing phenomena. Each week the school has a prompt which is displayed around the campus. The students spend the week thinking about and brainstorm writing ideas. On Wednesday, they complete their writing. Featured pieces are displayed in the MPR so everyone can enjoy them and see how our students think, process and share their thoughts out. When you get a spare moment, stop by and enjoy their hard work!
